Today I will show you my Cucumber Salad Recipe.
The refreshing salad classic is a welcome companion for hot and cold dishes.
So that it does not become boring, I have 6 different variants for the salad, additionally some ideas for the cucumber cut in an article summarized.
Cucumbers, long or short, straight or crooked – they are wonderful!

Prepare cucumbers
Wash and dry the cucumbers.
–> Small cucumbers are tastier.
–> Peel cucumbers: For large cucumbers, please cut off the bitter, thin end first.
Cutting cucumbers
Decide to peel or not to peel and the desired cucumber cut.
Cucumber salad vinegar/oil
Classic Dressing
For the classic cucumber salad, cucumber slices are sliced from the peeled cucumber.
The dressing consists of:
–> 20 g white wine vinegar,
–> 20 g vegetable oil,
–> some fresh dill tips,
–> 2 pinches of salt,
–> 3 pinches of pepper,
–> 3 pinches of sugar.

Asia Dressing
For our East Asian version of a cucumber salad, slice the cucumbers with the skin lengthwise.
The dressing consists of
–> 20 g rice vinegar,
–> 2 g soy sauce,
–> 20 g sesame oil,
–> 5 g agave syrup and
–> some grated fresh ginger.
2 teaspoons of sesame seed are added for decoration.
Cucumber salad lemon
Lemon Dressing
For the cucumber salad with lemon as acid, remove the seeds with a spoon and cut them with a knife into pleasing half moons.
Squeeze lemon fresh, we need
–> 20 g lemon juice.
–> Mix the juice with 15 g olive oil,
–> 10 g agave syrup,
–> 2 pinches of salt and
–> 3 pinches of pepper.
Mix with the cucumbers and decorate with red peppercorns in a bowl.
Cucumber salad yoghurt
Yoghurt Dressing
Leave the cucumbers with the skin, halve them and remove the seeds with a spoon.
For the dressing,
–> Mix 60 g of lean yoghurt,
–> 5 g lemon juice,
–> 10 g sugar,
–> 5 g oil,
–> 2 pinches of salt,
–> 2 pinches of white pepper and
–> 1 pinch of cayenne pepper.
For the topping, cut 6 fresh mint leaves into fine strips and sprinkle over the cucumber in a bowl.
Cucumber salad sour cream
Sour Cream Dressing
The cucumbers are pinned crosswise.
Mix the dressing from
–> 60 g of sour cream or cream,
–> dill tips from half a bunch of fresh dill,
–> 5 g of lemon juice,
–> 2 pinches of salt and
–> 3 pinches of pepper.
Cucumber salad with coconut milk and curry
Curry Dressing
Hollow out the cucumber and cut it into 1/2 cm cubes.
–> Add 50 g coconut milk
–> with 6 g lime juice and
–> 2 g curry,
–> 2 pinches of salt and
–> 1 pinch of sugar.
Mix into the cucumber cubes, cut the leaves of 2 fresh coriander stems finely and stir into the salad. Garnish with flower petals to taste.

3. How can you cut Cucumbers?
The cucumber cut influences the taste of the salad. Depending on the shape of the salad, with or without skin and how thick or thin the cut is, we experience a completely different taste sensation.

5. Frequently Asked Questions
Where does the cucumber salad go?
The cucumber salad is no loner on the table. Rather, the salad likes to accompany warm meat and fish dishes. It also goes well with warm vegetarian dishes. The salad is refreshing in summer for barbecues and a great snack companion.
Do I have to salt the pickles after slicing?
Cucumbers have a high water content. Salting and leaving them to rest allows parts of the water to escape. Removing the water and then marinating with the desired dressing gives the salad a better taste stability. The cucumber salad tastes strong for a longer period of time and only loses a little in taste.
Do I mix my dressing separately or do I add the dressing ingredients directly to the cucumber?
I recommend to put the cucumber sliced in a bowl aside. Then you should stir the dressing and season to taste. Fold the finished dressing into the salad and try again. Cucumbers tolerate salt, so if necessary add salt, pepper or sweeten again.
Should I remove the cucumber seeds or leave?
That’s a matter of taste. The cucumber seeds are flat and white and are hardly noticeable when eaten. The kernels are coated with a glassy, slightly acidic liquid. This liquid is sometimes not desirable in salads. This is why the cucumber is hollowed out in some recipes. Cucumbers without seeds are more digestible and easier to digest.
Is that all? Is salad the only thing you can make with cucumber?
Nowhere near! There are great soup recipes for cold cucumber soup. We all know tzatziki with soured milk or yoghurt. Cooked cucumber vegetables are a fine vegetable garnish for fish. And thin cucumber slices are great for your face 🙂
